Local beaches
A short walk from York Lodge West are the family friendly Breakwater Beach and Shoalstone Swimming Pool, the only outdoor sea water pool in Torbay.
Within 2 miles of Brixham is Broadsands, which is one of the most extensive gently sloping sandy beaches in the Bay, with lots of parking and all facilities. This beach can be reached by a short car journey or, by a long walk along the South West coastal path.
The other side of Brixham from York Lodge West are the delightful small coves of Fishcombe, Churston & Elberry.
Berry Head
Berry Head in Brixham is a natural paradise, perfect for dog walkers and nature enthusiasts alike. It boasts breathtaking coastal walks, where you and your furry friend can explore the rugged cliffs, soak in panoramic sea views, and encounter diverse wildlife. Enjoy a stroll through history as you visit the remains of an Iron Age fort. Berry Head’s unique geological features and rich history make it a captivating destination for outdoor enthusiasts and their canine companions.
Breakwater Beach
One of the cleanest beaches on the English Riviera. Not only is it a Blue Flag beach, but it has a Seaside Award and been recommended by the Good Beach Guide.
Facilities – Limited parking. No dogs allowed during summer months, warning flags in operation when applicable, life saving equipment, toilets by beach, cafe/refreshments.
Broadsands Beach
Sandy gently shelving family beach with large open spaces (tide permitting).
Facilities – Extensive Parking. No dogs allowed during summer months, swimming safe with care, warning flags in operation, life saving equipment, toilets by beach, cafe / refreshments.
Shoalstone Sea Water Swimming Pool
Shoalstone Pool is a 53 metre sea water swimming pool situated in a stunning position on Brixham sea front and one of only a few left in the country.
Facilities – Limited parking, no dogs allowed, safe with care, warning flags in operation, life saving equipment, toilets by beach, cafe/refreshments. This open air sea pool has lifeguards in season.
